Hip-Hop Loves Rio 2009

Hip-Hop Loves Foundation, winner of the Connecting to the World: The Condé Nast Traveler Challenge, uses hip-hop culture to fuel social justice and empower underserved youth worldwide.

In December, founders Sebastian "Siba" Bardin, Bahiyah Yasmeen Robinson, and Rene John-Sandy traveled to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil bringing music, sports, dancing, and dialogue to educate young people and demonstrate the power of creative expression.

Here, co-founder Bahiyah Yasmeen Robinson guides us through their experience leading Hip-Hop Loves Rio 2009.

Read the Hip-Hop Loves competition entry, and learn more about their work empowering youth though hip-hop in the U.S. and abroad.
