It is also necessary to mention that the vulnerability of the population, due to factors such as poverty, unsatisfied basic needs, and others. However, another barrier to combating human trafficking is the big transnational organized crime.

Increase awareness to the population of the country's borders

Describe your innovation. What makes your idea unique and different than others doing work in the field?

Almost the most national initiatives that promote the complaint and prevention against the trafficking of person in Costa Rica (Costa Rica is a country of origin, transit and destination of victims), the work of diferentes social actors have been concentrated in the metropolitan area, forgetting that in the borders are might be giving a great entry into the country and maybe more than the entries by international airports.In addition, a governmental responses, from prevention activities have been focused on coastal and central provinces.
This initiative, found to strengthen border populations, who in their daily lives face the traffic in persons.

Delivery Model: How do you implement your innovation and apply it to the challenge/problem you are addressing?

We will work in schools, colleges and community associations, also seek to create partnerships with government institutions (police migratory, pani), to generate discussion forums on the topic. Visualize the existence of this form of modern slavery in the country and promote a culture of human rights.

How do you plan to grow your innovation?

The initiative not only seeks to develop preventive activities, also intends to start a support group with local institutions, by strengthening their capacities knowledge on the subject, and also creating actions work together.

sensitize the border´s town before the traffic of people so that they can denounce this organized crime networks, and we can strengthen support for victims.

What are the main barriers to creating or achieving your impact?

Ignorance of people about what it means trafficking in persons, seeing it as some outlets for improving their quality of life, also the few immigration controls, the large number of crossing points used by smugglers, that communities are aware. Moreover, the fear of the people before to represals for their families by the crime organized. Finally, other barriers are the families who receive incomes for the support of the trafficking of persons.

Alianza Por Tus Derechos is an NGO, whom work to defend the children´s rights in Costa Rica. One of the themes of work by the organisation has been organzied in the fight against sexual exploitation and trafficking in persons through investigations, complaints, training in all the country.
