You sound like you know a lot about the Moringa plant as a whole. I have a question about it. It seems as though most parts of the plant are useful for a variety of different applications. What is the amount of waste from all of these processes and are they appropriate for composting? It seems like such a valuable plant would add a lot of nutrients to the soil. Have you read anything about this?

You said in your idea that a tea can be made and drunk 3x a day for diabetics. Does this tea contain any other ingredients? Do you use the leaves for this tea? And what is the taste? I wonder if it is the Omega 3's in the plant that help to balance blood sugar levels. I am going to be looking up more information on this plant. Thank you for sharing your wisdom.

Hi. I have done some of my own research on Moringa and it is my understanding that studies have only been done to back up the nutritional aspects of the tree, but not the medicinal properties. What is your backing for using Moringa for medicinal purposes?

Thank you for your comment: most of the moringa plant parts, roots, bark, stem, leaf, flower and pods are used medically to cure diarrhoea, anaemia and ulcers. Moringa tea made from the leaves is capable of reducing diabetes, high blood pressure, respiratory infections.Moringa seeds is beneficial for gout, stomach disorders and rheumatism. The roots are bitter and a tonic to the body and lungs. The roots are good in curing inflamations, chest wounds, bronchitis, piles (haemorrhoids) and loss of appetite. Skin infections are treated with a paste made from the seeds.
Curent research is underway in Kenya and Nigeria on the use of Moringa as a cure for Malaria.

Hello,
As I was reading through many of the other entries it came to me that this one appears to be truly a grassroots initiative. Is this a group organized in a community for the benefit of that community? It is my belief that initiatives like this that begin at the community level are far more effective in producing change. What was the group process that germinated this creative idea?
Thanks!

Dear John,
Your project is very impressive. How do you determine the amount of moringa needed to supplement your porrige? We are considering moringa powder as a way to fortify locally produced sosoma. This would be much more cost-effective than purchasing vitamin supplements, and would further support the local economy. How do you standardize the amount of iron, folate, etc that your porrige product has? Is this even possible? Would love to learn more!
