The Story
What was the defining moment that led you to this innovation?
I was watching the TED conference video of Amy Smith describe an extremely low-tech solution to compressing briquettes of pyrolyzed char ... the solution is to use corn cobs (i.e. crop residue already in briquette form because of nature of plant) ... I realized that EVERYONE should have the opportunity to think very carefully, very ingeniously about food. When we spend too much, we avoid the pain of problems -- we also avoid understanding. Everyone should have the chance to be involved in solving nutrition problems at a very practical, very simple, very personal level.
Tell us about the social innovator behind this idea.
