Protect and Invest in Farmers from Ghana

Managing business and personal finances can be an immense challenge for rural farmers, whose financial fortunes are frequently determined by forces beyond their control, such as weather and crop prices. Providing capital injections and rainfall insurance can help stimulate more productive investment in agriculture. Through this intervention, Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) will provide capital and rainfall insurance to 470 farmers in northern Ghana.
Reason:
A poor yield is not only devastating for the farmer, but also means less viable food for the local community. This program seeks to protect the rural farmer and increase maize produce for the larger community through this capital and insurance scheme. IPA will provide capital for farms, including fertilizer, seeds, tools, and labor, as well as rainfall insurance to protect against weather shocks. Through this influx of support and resources, farmers will get the support they need to produce healthy agricultural yields, and in turn, support themselves and produce food for the larger community.
