An additional force to empower women economically.

Thu, 11/04/2010 - 05:45

I found this idea good to work upon in our state of Orissa. This will certainly build up an atmosphere that supports women land rights. Let this be acted upon. I hope best for this idea to be selected.

Thu, 11/04/2010 - 06:02

this is one of the very good article and idea. which clearly corelates both legal and operational issues lies in the state. i must congratulates the author for same.

Wed, 11/10/2010 - 06:10

My idea is to address the mind set of people to set trends for the for the coming generation started with present status. Your thoughts will certainly add value to my actions once I win to take up the task.

Thu, 11/04/2010 - 06:25

It is a critical idea to add substantially towards the cause of women empowerment. It can add to nutritional value to her family members through small farming activities that can contribute toward her family economically. Its a noble idea for social and economic transformation in the state. It will also help to reduce the domestic violence and reduce migration from rural areas to urban area.

Wed, 11/10/2010 - 06:13

You have rightly described that the present actions will support to reduce domestic violence and reduce migration as women will have control over their property from parents and husband in her family. Really you have rightly pointed out the critical and finer points of it.

Sat, 11/06/2010 - 01:13

It is a real issue. It becomes unrealistic to talk about economic empowerment of women without taking up land rights for women. I found the strategy and actions sounds good in the present paper to highlight the issue in our state Orissa. Let us hope this action and idea get a selection through votes. Let it be considered.

Sat, 11/06/2010 - 03:14

This present action plan designed to promote an environment among the NGOs, Policy makers and planners to have a new mind set. It can expand the horizon of thinking among the social transformers as well. Resource organisations and donors may also be influenced through building networks. The idea may change the over all environment in the specified area and state as well. Let this be get through for action.

Wed, 11/10/2010 - 06:17

I will be really grateful once I get support from your organisation once. Let us think how to go about it more in a more fruitful manner.

Sat, 11/06/2010 - 04:15

It is a nice idea to empower women economically and socially in the state. Particularly, in the state like Orissa such initiative is welcome through campaign mode as described to create an positive atmosphere. Even today people do involve women when they talk about farm land utilisation and other matters of farm land. It is seer deprivation made to women in our state on such matter. Let this happen that can change the economic and social situation.

Sat, 11/06/2010 - 06:27

This idea is noble that can create a concrete path for women economic and social status high. The actions are mostly for creating a more favourable situation for women in our state. This may support household food security as well as nutritional security. Once this really happen this will reduce migration and domestic violence and can add to family income as well. I wish the writer and idea promoter best of luck and wishes.

Cheers

The issue is rarely raised by any organisation in the state as well as in India. The idea is noble and actions as planned are to generate mass awareness and opinion at the state level that supports women rights at the ground level. As the orgaisation is well lead by the person writing the idea is well accepted by many organisations. Besides, the idea promoter Ruturaj Pattanaik is well known for his solid rapport among various NGOs working in the state of Orissa. Once this get through support will be from many NGOs for substantiating the actions and advocacy. I wish this may be through and implemneted.

Wed, 11/10/2010 - 06:07

Once I win to make the campaign more vibrant I need your support at the time of conducting workshops, consultation meetings. Your contributions and cooperation is highly required to make the present idea meaningful for women by influencing mind set of thinkers, planners and policy makers.

Mon, 11/08/2010 - 01:01

This idea and actions planned under the idea are seems to be quite critical for women empowerment. Hardly any organisation involved in women empowerment have considered this relevant aspect of women empowerment. This idea open the traditional mind set of people providing new horizon of thought for stakeholders to be part of the programme that have long term effects on society as visualised. The idea has inroporated media advocacy, advocacy through publication and direct deliberations through workshops and consultaitons. These are right kind of approach to promote suitable atmosphere for the women to have control over land through exercising their rights over the land specifically on farm land. Besides, compilation of perceptions and views of different people published in media and publication will certainly raise the issue to be addressed and taken proper care in the coming days.

Wed, 11/10/2010 - 05:18

Thanks ! Let us hope for the best.

Mon, 11/08/2010 - 03:42

Empowering rural women can be possible only through giving them rights over the piece of land meant for their survival. The land can be both homestead and agricultural land. The women in a rural set up is more vulnerable and needs to be strengthened economically.

Wed, 11/10/2010 - 05:17

Thanks Shyamashri for your valuable additions and comments.

Mon, 11/08/2010 - 04:26

I have gone through the idea. It is realistic and practical in nature to address the women issue in the state which has never been discussed specifically at any forum in our state. Let this be through to provide scope for the planners and policy makers to act on it. It will also help other NGOs to make the intervention more vibrant as the mentor Ruturaj Pattanaik personally is having base all over the state through his personal rapport and support services he render towards NGOs.

Best of luck.

Mon, 11/08/2010 - 06:02

Women land rights is really one issue rightly written by Ruturaj Pattanaik. Actions proposed are to create and promote favorable condition for the issue to be discussed at different forums. Besides, rightly actions are also planned to high light the issue among different stakeholders like NGOs, CBOs and Government Administration to be sensitive towards the cause. Organisations support are considered to act through network is important as through network policy makers and planners can be influenced and motivated. Besides, the actions can change the mind set among the thinkers to act. However, the person taking up the issue is having good base all over the state through his associationship among NGOs. He is always positive and realistic to act for complete social transformation. Let his present idea get properly shortlisted for further action.

Mon, 11/08/2010 - 06:58

Right perspective actions and idea emerged to meet the requirements of women empowerment. This also can reduce poverty eradication and reduce migration. The process written in the idea are rightly described to build favourable situation in the state where positive and progressive people will take it forward. It may expand the horizons of thinkers and individual activists to take it forward. Besides, Ruturaj Pattanaik is well recognised among the grassroots level organisations. Hopefully Ruturaj will be able to mobilise support in terms of taking the interventions way forward in the coming days and years. I wish this idea get through for action in the state of Orissa.

Wed, 11/10/2010 - 06:04

Thanks for your suggestions and comments. I will also seek your support once the idea is selected. Hope you will certainly not mind for the same during campaign once I win.

Wed, 11/10/2010 - 00:44

I have gone through the idea and actions described. Sole purpose of this idea is to promote one atmosphere favourable for women. However, can it be possible to change the title to "Promotion of gender equity through women land rights". Hope this title is more realistic looking into your idea.

Wed, 11/10/2010 - 05:21

Your suggestion for changing the title is nice. Once the present idea is selected I will try to amend as per your suggestion.

Wed, 11/10/2010 - 01:24

Ruturaj, it will be better once this will be "Empowering women through land rights". Does it sounds good as per the described idea narrated. However, this present idea is in a campaign mode to trigger the women land rights issue more emphatically in the state of Odisha(recently changed it name by amendment). Some action points are quite critical in the state to empower women. I appreciate this as you have learnt from your own situation. However, let this be internalised by people of Odisha. This campaign can sensitise the people of Odisha particularly policy makers, planners and NGOs involved in women empowerment process.

Wed, 11/10/2010 - 05:37

Yes! this campaign is a process through specifying inclusion of women over land discussion and control.

Wed, 11/10/2010 - 02:08

Ruturajjee, you have put an idea that trigger a campaign for women land rights in the state of Odisha(Recently declared in place of Orissa). This idea is an that promote women empowerment process in the state through opening new horizons for activitists and workers acting for social transformation in the state. Really, it will be helpful aspects and important factor for poverty alleviation and food security and nutritional security. I suggest let this rights promoted for farm land as well. In our state Odisha women contribute more towards farm production. Where as they have less say over such land when discussed specifically by men folk. This will create an avenue for the women to raise this issue vehemently to have their rights and control over those patches of land. Let this campaign and idea get through.

Wed, 11/10/2010 - 05:40

Once women have control over farm land they will be tempted to go for at least kitchen garden activities that will help their family members to have access and avail better and fresh food in terms of vegetables and other spinac those can be grown in the patch of land they have near to their house during leisure hours.

Wed, 11/10/2010 - 04:01

You have rightly described the land rights idea for women in Odisha(recently declared in place of Orissa). Non-Government Organisations and Government agencies are mostly involved in empowering women folk in our state. But I have never found any organisation ever specifically working the issue. I welcome this idea to be started as campaign mode as described in the actions and strategy. I know MANAV VIKASH a small organisation of course less recognised. I will prefer smaller organisations with right well recognised persons can take up this campaign as the organisation is non-controversial, the organisation will sincerely carry out the planned activities sincerely. As the organisation is having good management with good rapport with Government organisations can perform better. The organisation will have a chance to prove its stand at the state level. I wish best of luck.

Wed, 11/10/2010 - 05:26

Yes! MANAV VIKASH is a grassroots level organisation working in limited area with 3-blocks specifically for women income generation. Hope once this idea selected we will give justice as planned in the idea. Of course this present planned activities can establish our organisation in Orissa making the present transformation process more friendly for the women. As a result in the long run it support better nutrition and food availability at the household level once women have control over farm land. Our organisation will never miss the present opportunity to establish as a well recognised organisation in the state.

Thu, 11/11/2010 - 05:26

The theme is quite sensible that can promote positive situation for women. Your organisation's sincerity matters a lot to make this issue fruitfully considered by people in Odisha.

Thu, 11/11/2010 - 05:53

You have written good theme and issue rightly pointed out in summary that describes every aspects of the issue. Let us act on it. Cheers for better cause

Fri, 11/12/2010 - 05:13

Sir, you have rightly described the summary. Besides, property starts with land(immovable property) that provide dignity and identity in your area. It shows women are hardly recognised in any community specifically in Odisha as they have less control and rights over land more specifically on farm land.

Tue, 11/16/2010 - 05:35

Dear Ruturaj,

We know you are having strong network all over the state through your consultancy work and rapport with NGOs. I personally welcome the idea you have highlighted along with actions proposed. Such campaign needs good network and support from outside. I could able to visualise that you can lead this in the state.

Let it be through

Ruturaj

Tue, 11/16/2010 - 05:53

The issue and idea described here is really critical need of the hour. There has to be people's support for this campaign. I will support this initiative to make it succesful for the state. It will help in reducing poverty and food insecurity. The programme should be for more extensive so that massive support to be mobilised. Let us hope you avail such support and campaign through physical presence and other way.
