Working on a ebook reader concept for Indian market
Cause: Improve Literacy rate among Indian poor
Product: working on a low cost ebook reader (with alternate charging capability) which has more 'Return on Investment' when compared to books in a longer run - 2-3 year period - as well as easier to use and distribute
Benefits: easier to use, more value for money, improve literacy rate, education material reaches students on time
Problema
- While intrenet has reached small places, availability of book is still a concern. An ebook reader deals with multiple issues at once:
Green Technology
Education Material can easily be uploaded through a PC- Internet
One time cost
LCD reading is straining to eyes and not as good and easy as ebooks
Total student population is in excess of 200,000,000 of which if even 10% can be captured it can effect the education environment in a considerable way - for both who can afford and cannot afford
Solução
A low cost eBook reader (basic version) that can help students easily access a vast education and reading material. The product itself is not an 'eureka' thing but how it is positioned and the ease it will provide the end-users are the attributes that will make it grow. Similar product lines with higher capability to be developed to help students 'who can spend' access books in a more convenient way.
Ofertas e demandas
- Tablets:
While tablets are more versatile in functionality, their main disadvantage is that they can't be used as a reader for long duration.
- Existing eBook readers:
Can do comparatively more things but are costlier and out of reach of low income (or even middle income groups). More targeted at Novel reading youths rather than school going population
