Teach children, parents, challenged folks how to meet needs in nonviolent creative ways. Enjoy people, communicate well across barriers. Multilingual educational publishing company, in seed stage, helps bring a lot of my wide range of interests and ideas into one frame; accompanying nonprofit will cover more. Also playing with ecofiction, more seriously working on organization and venues for ecofiction (Writers for a Sustainable Future, group on wiserearth.org).
Home (Oregon) and islands in WA (I am a west coast child/set me down anywhere and I have plant friends, etc). Maine (lived there for some significant years). Turkey, especially Konya; extended family in Florianopolis, Brazil.
An environmentally sane world! Clean environment first (then people can squabble over less necessary resources!). Kids/parents/teachers next; I'm creative and apparently exceptionally good at changing difficult behaviors. starting to teach others my strategies/outlook (what is working).
Basic hands on level most of my life; teaching assistant for early childhood and early childhood special ed, caregiver for elderly, hospice, support staff for disabled/mentally ill folks. Raised three kids, divorced; lots of miscellaneous experience means skills people wouldn't expect (grant writing, editing, organizing events, etc). Started/ran children's services at annual fair, 20 staff, 6000 kids over 3 days, space/ equip/ entertainers/etc for 6 years. Wrote grant, recruited volunteers, established afterschool ( for all ages) ed program on our island in Maine. Helped organize county wide energy alternatives fair in island county, WA state. Now 50, started teaching workshops at ed conferences.
