I'm interested in working on maternal health issues, specifically regarding access to emergency obstetric care in order to prevent mortality and morbidity such as obstetric fistulas.
I spent some time in Tanzania doing research and working with a community there to learn about how women who have had obstetric fistulas reintegrate into society after surgical repair.
I would like to see obstetric fistulas eradicated from sub-Saharan Africa the way they have been in most other places in the world.
I am a 3rd year medical student with a bachelor's degree in anthropology and a master's in public health. Most of my work has been on childbirth-related issues including the emergence of doulas, obstetric fistulas, and reproductive health issues of refugees.
