I attended an intensive, sequential series of courses that leads artists to a thorough understanding of how to create meaningful workshops and projects in schools and community settings.
I work as an First Nations Art Educator (19 years experience) and have partnered with the school districts of Vancouver, Abbotsford, Hope, Chilliwack, North & West Vancouver, Coquitlam, Richmond, Surrey, Langley, Burnaby and New Westminster. I am also an Artist in Residence for many school districts and arts organizations. I use First Nations art, culture, tradition and protocol and make curricular connections (science, math, social studies etc). This traditional way of learning and teaching has been used for many thousands of years. See how I can transform you classroom setting into a rich learning experience. I also am known for my ability to make connections in Aboriginal communities. I have worked for organizations to bring mainstream and Aboriginal communities together, resulting in programs and resources being realized by the Aboriginal communities. My recent work in Northern Alberta with a very dedicated team resulted in over $1.5 million in programming in Northern Alberta schools.
