Because this a population with high social vulnerability, some work during the day in informal employments with low salaries and with no workers rights; we can find a high number of young people that already are parents but that still live with their own parents and generate more expenses for the family that may result in serious consequences to familiar dynamics, not to mention drug dealers that find a fertile ground for their commerce. In this context the population of young people suffers with the moral conduct challenged by the sexual development of their bodies what causes significant changes at their way of thinking and acting. Lack of information and orientation that helps them to understand this development makes worst this scenario. The most current problems in this group are unplanned pregnancy, use of drugs and infections by STDs.

There were 1124 young people benefited directly, that were originally exposed to several forms of vulnerability living on Serrinha. There the population in mostly composed by young people and the problems that current are unplanned pregnancy, drugs use, infections by STDs and unprotected sexual practices.

Taking the proposal to other communities in Ceara State for young people living in vulnerable situations and turning them into health promoters. We collaborate with other organizations to a multiplier partnership for the idea.

The lessons learnt included the following contents learned and discussed with the youth and the families at the community thought the method of the workshop involving health, education, STD/AIDS prevention. Workshop on safe sex and human rights. Children and Adolescents Statute. Workshop on actions to raise self-esteem. Improper use of licit and illicit drugs. Reduction of damages and mostly promoting reflections on the problem: Orientations about Promotion of self-care and Living and Living Together with HIV; Gender and reproductive health (Prevention and Birth control); Prejudice; Public Policies and victims of HIV; The vulnerable adolescent and the family.

The year budget previewed is BRL 38.000,00 including project coordination, hosts for the workshops and external activities as integration visits and informative educational material.

The incomes generated per year include the funds from the Health Secretary of the City and of the State plus the sales of t-shirts summing a total of BRL 55.000,00.

At first we received financing from the city and the state governments and after the NGO continued the work with less participants and volunteer hosts. We expect to compose a board of worthies from the private network so that we can extend our action.

The main obstacle is the crises that hit all non-governmental organizations due to lack of resources that limits our actions and the fulfilling of social taxes. Another obstacle is the lack of a headquarter. Expanding our action area and our partnerships to the development of self-sustainability.

Keeping partnerships with State and Federal Universities. Maintaining a program for academic volunteer from several areas of knowledge. Capacity building of young people from the communities as health promoters.
The resources necessary for the new phase include 1 automobile for the itinerant work at schools and communities from the countryside of Ceara State, taking information on AIDS to the young people all over the state.

In 1989, by the time of the peak of the appearance of AIDS in Brazil, when many lives were taken I was working as a teacher of the nurse course in Ceara. In front of the campus there is a community with youth exposed to all kinds of vulnerability. That situation uncomforted us as we know that the University had to fulfill its social role doing something about health. So we implemented a project called “AIDS and the University”, formed young people as information multipliers about STD/HIV/AIDS among other subjects addressed through workshops. We created bonds at the community and until today we have actions directed to this community. We work with children, adults, communitarian leaderships, always educating for self-care.

Now the continuity is led by a youth leadership, experienced on living together with DST/AIDS, student of Computer Science, participant of the AIDS Movement. But the creator of the proposal still participates.
