What does a woman's body say? Do we listen to our bodies? Can we read their symptoms and cycles in every stage? Christiane Northrup, specialist in women's health, states that awareness creates our bodies. “Listen to your body" was born from the need to look for different approaches to women’s concerns. We take a sound trip to discover the female body both from the inside and the outside. We challenge the medical model that tells women their body is filthy and has its starting point in illness. Instead, we look for an intimate look toward the female body and health starting from pleasure and prevention.
Throughout 52 radio programs broadcasted weekly we have forged alliances with civil organizations specialized in women’s health -Interdisciplinary Center for Women’s Health Care, Network of Mental Health and Gender-, the private sector, and organizations focused on mental and holistic health -Los Angeles Hospital, in Mexico, Yoga Space, Open River, specialists in body expression and dance, besides public health institutions: Mexican General Hospital, Perinatology National Institute and Ramón de la Fuente Muñíz National Institute of Psychiatry. Some specialists have offered to give out grants, discounts and information related to their fields of work.

82% of phone calls were from women and 17%, from men. The most representative ages were 41-50, 35%, 51-60, 29%, and 31-40, with 16% of the phone calls. The listeners' occupations were: 24%, housewives; 14%, teachers, and 10%, office or shop employees. Some achievements of the radio station: at the beginning, we planned to broadcast 18 programs; after passing through the Technical Evaluation Committee of the station, it was decided that the project would continue on the air. This month we have been broadcasting for one year, with 53 programs on the air. We managed to give the issue of women's right to health a gender perspective and the company has given it great importance, too. We have established a permanent relation both with the audience and the show’s guests.

Place the issue of civil and human rights of women on the table, starting from their bodies as a field of decision in every area of their lives: mental and physical health, sexuality, quality of life and movement. We don’t start from the body examination from disease, but from prevention and internal communication.
Prove the possibility to create synergy in favor of women’s health thanks to the participation of specialists in the different health areas: gynecology, psychotherapies, body expression, yoga, dance, nutrition, and integral health. The project is enriched by the audience’s proposals, and those from the guests and team formed to make this project possible. The audience’s response has been to vote and make “Listen to your body” the new program with the largest audience in the radio station www.radioeducacion.edu.mx.

(120 palabras)
The project is currently financed by the radio station. We have implemented an interchange mechanism with the guests: we promote their activities in exchange for grants and discounts for the listeners. In the future we will seek external financing and exchange agreements to strengthen the promotion, the offer of services and the feedback and exchange with the audience.
(60 palabras)
Since the project is on the air in a public radio station there is no possibility to trade goods or services. We have thought of making promotion and exchange agreements with publishers and service providers, apart from seeking financing from the radio station’s production and programs.
(60 palabras)
We want to create a blog within the station’s web site, to meet the audience and offer to do workshops, round tables, and an informative market. We also wish to enlarge our proposal with a publication that includes testimonials from women in relation to their bodies, from various areas: plastic arts, literature, journalism, indigenous women, domestic violence, sex work, etc.
The Story
(200 palabras)
I owe it to my mother’s grandmother –of rural origins-, to my mother –emigrant from the country to the city-, and to my sister Lola –my friend and accomplice in life-, as well as other women who have influenced me.
I have realized that our bodies are the testimony of a person’s life, we can read stories from it: every wrinkle, inner or outer scar is there, waiting to be read and translated into various languages: art, journalism, literature, video, radio, etc. My first approach was by seeing a magazine displaying a female mons pubis with the inscription: “Women aren‘t born, but made.” This powerful image caused hundreds of feelings in me that led me to the Miraval sisters, the writer Virginia Wolf, Christiane Northrup's legacy, New Yorker’s labors, and the women from the Mexican Revolution, the women murdered in Ciudad Juárez, and others who helped me find them and myself. That is how I have written a proposal starting from the basic feminist statements about our bodies, but with a modern look and voice, from daily life, the exploration of our bodies and the search for basic tools to help and listen to each other and be able to achieve reconstruction within ourselves.
I am a Mexican journalist (35) specialized in gender, human rights and social issues. My grandfather greatly influenced me. He told me that one comes to this world to be born and do things, and also that there would be a great revolution in this country. I wish to relate those words to the present and make use of the 21st century technologies to give birth to journalist proposals of social impact.
