Por que a ideia é única e qual o diferencial em relação aos demais projetos do mesmo campo de atuação?

The Mental Health and Solidary Economy Network’s uniqueness is related to the fact that it is not meant to organize the public mental health services, but the projects (enterprises) related to the theme, having the users as protagonists. The Network seeks to optimize and articulate the projects, aiming to increase their space of social and economic expression and to increase their business opportunities, as well as to provide technical assistance on entrepreneurship, fair trade and solidary economy. The Network currently involves more than 40 projects from over 20 cities in the State of São Paulo, and has already realized many initiatives, like the Mental Health and Solidary Economy Fair, the Training Seminar for Mental Health and Solidary Economy Replicators in the Nursing School of University of São Paulo, besides organizing a delegation bus for the Marcha dos Usuários (public demonstration of users of mental health services) in Brasilia.

Em que momento decidiu criar/liderar esta inovação? Conte-nos a sua história

The Mental Health and Solidary Economy Network was born as a means to demonstrate the collapse of asylums, at the same time as it creates real opportunities to counter the exclusion logic of capitalism, trying to rescue the practices, desires and insights of those who try to make some sense out of mental illness. The Network is the result of many activities performed on Mental Health and Solidary Economy. It was born from some projects around mental health approaching each other and the Solidary Economy Forum of São Paulo, and is now in a stage of affirmation and development. During 2008, two activities of discussion and training between actors involved on the Psychiatric Reformation were prominent in the agenda of these meetings: the presence of Prof. Dr. Valmor Schiochet from Social Projects Nucleus of the Regional Labor Superintendence of São Paulo and the Solidary Economy Forum of São Paulo itself. The activities were held in the Post-graduation headquarters of the Nursing School of University of São Paulo and in the Center for Psycho-Social Support (CAPS) of Itaim-Bibi in São Paulo. After these initiatives, many projects around job and income generation, free enterprises, associations, researchers, users and mental health professionals started to organize themselves and realize biweekly meetings towards the creation of the Network.
