Innovation
What makes your innovation unique?
Up to now Diaspora associations are operating without any kind of control. Their commitment for the development of their homeland is based on voluntary, still it is necessary that they observe the criteria of good governance (for example transparency, responsibility and efficiency). In this domain, the effect of the law is limited. So we need soft methods to improve the standard of their way of working. A code of conduct and a system of benchmark and ranking are able to challenge this.
The code of conduct should be developed in order to make the action of Diaspora associations more coherent and give them a normative character. The Code affects in particular corruption, environment/sustainability, tradition/superstition and the relationships between Diaspora associations.

In the short term, it is about to build a homepage that will compile all relevant knowledge and information for and about the Cameroonian Diaspora concerning the migration and development nexus. The integration of the Diaspora members in their respective host societies should always be considered since an optimal development policy engagement is then only possible if migrants are well integrated.
In the long term, however, the project should become a think tank that accompanies the development commitment of the Cameroonian Diaspora and its policy-making. To this end, the project should mutate into a research or academic institution. In other words, we will be able to produce knowledge and information.
Results: Describe the expected results of these actions over the next three years. Please address each year separately, if possible
- A web page that is well supplied and regularly updated
- An adopted code of conduct of the cameroonian Diaspora
- First ranking of Diaspora associations (based on governance criteria)
