ASOSA provides farmers with free long-term technical assistance for every aspect of the transition to sustainable growing, and access to purchasable products that optimize sustainable practices. The sales method is simple and collaborative: by jointly designing and implement tests with farmers to showcase the efficacy of sustainable growing techniques and products working together they prove that sustainable farming is competitive in the short term and far superior in the long term. The success of ASOSA=agricultural change that is ecological.

Reason:
Globally, agriculture is the largest driver of deforestation and water contamination in rivers and lakes. It contributes 13.5% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Energy use and soil management are two of the main drivers behind these trends. In Guatemala, non-organic farming comprises 99.84% of agriculture, leaving 75% of cropland seriously degraded. As a result, 10-20 tons of soil are eroded per hectare of agricultural land per year. These issues are undeniable and ASOSA has a plan to make sweeping changes that improve this reality. They also have a highly motivated, hard working, dedicated team that ensures success. I envision within 5 years this team will have made a major agricultural shift in Guatemala.
