This project intends to produce radio programmes on the rights of women and its protection, for the broadcasting in the Community Radio run by PARD. This radio programme is audible in more than sixty villages in four blocks in Madurai. The Radio Station was officially started on 8th September 2009 and it is broadcasting its programmes four hours daily. The local women will be given a chance to spell out the problem they face in their houses for which the experts opinion will be arranged to find a common solution. This will make the women folk who face the simlar prolems, in the area to motivate them to establish their own rights.

This project intends to involve local women to spell out their problems so that a common solution can be found out in the area to establish the rights of women in the rural areas.

Women, Youth, Society in general.

As the project is intended to involve the local people to spell out their own problems, the direct beneficiaries of this project will be the local women and their families and in general it will involve the local people and so the indirect beneficiaries will be the local people in general
What is your initiative’s implementation strategy?
Community Radio is a tool to address the local issues and this project intends to utilise this tool to bring a change in the lives of the local women who has to establish their rights as major contributor of the society.
In your opinion, what are the main barriers or obstacles in connection with this theme?
The attitude of women to spell out their personal problems among the public may be a problem as the rural women are hidden with many taboos and restrictions in the society. This project will try to penetrate in the community to bring a change.

With the local Women Self Help Groups and the Non Government Organisations, we will make our efforts to implement the programmes of this project.

Protection of the rights of the Women in General. Addressing issues of women in the society will be the main results expected by this initiative.
What is the main impact that your initiative might generate?
Protecting the rights of the rural women folk will be the main idea of this projects.
