Winning Solutions for Rural Poverty
Congratulations to the winners of the Cultivating Innovation: Solutions for Rural Communities collaborative competition!
We received so many great solutions for alleviating rural poverty (more than 430 in all!), and were inspired by the work of so many dedicated changemakers. Only three innovations could be chosen as the best ideas in farming and rural development, and the Changemakers community spoke up in volumes.
A Ugandan program to help small farmers share and benefit from traditional methods; an Indian organization that puts land into the hands of women farmers; and a technology initiative in Brazil that helps farmers make the most of small plots of land with minimal access to water. Please join us in celebrating these winners, and learn more about their efforts to support farmers and rural communities.

Félicitation aux gagnants du concours de nouvelles solutions pour les communautés rurales. Ils ont adopté une stratégie de développement durable fondée d’une part, sur l’emploi d’une démarche participative innovante avec les communautés rurales et d’autres part, sur la rationalisation des ressources et leur utilisation avec intelligence et créativité.Ces initiatives m’inspirent beaucoup car le rural est un domaine qui m’a toujours fasciné. L’année dernière, j’ai élaboré un projet sur le conditionnement des dattes. C’est une branche très peu développée au Maroc alors que les dattes constituent le support d’une activité commerciale importante au sud du pays et contribue à la formation des revenus agricoles des habitants de la région. De plus, le palmier dattier constitue le pivot de l’écosystème des régions sahariennes et présahariennes du Maroc.Ce projet que j’ai conçu sur le conditionnement des dattes représente la première tranche d’un projet plus ambitieux qui vise la valorisation de la datte locale et l’amélioration des conditions de vie de la population locale par la création d’activités génératrices de revenus, le renforcement de l’alphabétisation des adultes, de la scolarisation des enfants et l’accès aux soins de santé.C’est un projet qui me tient beaucoup à cœur, il est encore au stade conceptuel car je suis toujours à la recherche d’organismes de financement.
