The Kids' Pasta Project

The mission of the Kids' Pasta Project is for youth to serve their local community by preparing and selling freshly-made, healthy meals, with the profit going to local causes.
Where possible, the ingredients for the meals are from local producers and businesses.
The Kids' Pasta Project provides the opportunity to learn the value of service to community as well as relevant life skills.
A key intention of the Kids' Pasta Project organization is for it to be sustainable, adaptable and transferable to any community.

Reason:
This is a unique multi-faceted project that has changed the lives of many kids & adults in our community. Kids learn lessons of food, entrepreneurship, teamwork, and giving back to their community. Over 120 volunteers in a small rural area have contributed to weekly dinners. The kids organize, prepare and serve the dinners. Each week a local charity is selected (by the kids) to receive the proceeds from the meals. So far over $12,000 has been given to individuals and organizations in need. To continue, funding for equipment and supplies is needed.
