Mega events draw the rapt attention of the entire world, and everyone wants to be part of the excitement. However, as soon as the final whistle is blown and interests turn elsewhere, how do we ensure the sustainability of local development projects?
As announced at the Clinton Global Initiative on December 8th 2013, streetfootballworld and Ashoka have created the Team Brazil Social Legacy Fund (Somos tod@s titulares). The fund will pool financial resources from partners all over the world to provide long-term sustainable support for sport-based development projects in Brazil. The overall aim of the fund is twofold:
- Activate actors across the globe to contribute to a positive social legacy in Brazil, and
- Empower young, disadvantaged Brazilians with the skills necessary to create a better future for themselves and their communities.
We are seeking a "Starting 11" of partners to invest $500k each into this unique fund.Launch: December 2013 Outcome: The first ever social fund for sport and social change in Brazil Target: US $5.5 mil
