In a four-day course, the Mobile Computer Lab teaches computer skills to villagers in rural areas where there is little to no access to information technology. By the end of the program participants have not only a basic, practical knowledge of pertinent information technology, but also the confidence in their ability to expand on that knowledge. These skills are paired with basic life skills that seek to strengthen the personal tools people need to make informed and educated decisions.

Reason:
RIDEV's Mobile Computer Lab Project embodies many of the goals and ideals of the changemakers competition. With a large female staff, RIDEV uses the MCLP to reach out to high schoolers and women's groups. The access to technology and information that this class gives participants is already a huge step in helping these marginalized groups to gain a voice in community development and giving them increased educational opportunities. Additionally, by teaching these individuals to do something they had previously thought impossible, RIDEV is empowering participants to attempt further "impossible" dreams.
