A lifelong Artist, Activist, Mythologist, Storyteller, Environmentalist (tied posters on trees in Central Park for the FIRST Earth Day) and High Priestess of Zeeva's Art of Wellness: a Body-Mind-Spirit Balanced Wellness Lifestyle-- I travelled the world studying arts and mythologies of people around the world, collecting their stories, became a Master Storyteller in many media. Local and global community service from childhood trick-or-treating for UNICEF to performing, organizing, canvassing, activism and sitting on boards of orgs from UNICEF, OXFAM World Hunger Foundation, Greenpeace, RAN, Native American Children's Committee, & LA's Downtown Neighborhood Council's Arts Aesthetics & Culture Committee. Started teaching Art, Music, Dance as healing modalities in institutions and psychiatric facilities in 70's, focused on experiential learning, Humanistic and Transformational psychologies. Advanced training in NLP and variety of holistic healing modalities, 2nd degree Reiki, performer and peak performance consultant for more than a quarter century when astounding disaster hit. MD's didn't know if I'd live or die. I chose life. I BEAT Blindness and Brain Damage caused by Acute Toxic Chemical Exposure--though MD's said I'd be Brain Damaged, Blind and Disabled for the rest of my life. Today I advocate for and my company Zeeva is ABOUT: Arts, Education, Alternative Health and Wellness, Consciousness, Human Potential, and Peak Performance. Our mission is to provide the best in real and cutting-edge information and products in the areas of Arts, Empowerment, Holistic Health and Wellness, Human Potential, and Body-Mind-Spirit Arts and Practices.
The UN Secretariat building where I grew up--Mom was staff. It was filled with fine people from around the world committed to peace and human dignity and creating a better world. Its is filled with amazing art from around the world and over ages and furnishings from around the world. Every member nation sent its best to provide for the workers for a more peaceful more better more communicating and cooperating world to be surrounded by.When I was a little girl--there were guards, but no metal detectors.
I want human beings to be able to transform, become their highest selves, beat their odds, get Well as they can get, learn from the past, live in the NOW, & Dance into the future, and create a better more conscious, more loving, more evolved world for the 21st Century.
I BEAT Blindness and Brain Damage caused by Acute Toxic Chemical Exposure--though MD's said I'd be Brain Damaged, Blind and Disabled for the rest of my life. Went to Braille Inst. Learned talking computers to research how to beat it, to be able to work and be independent. Lived a life online in newly forming holistic communities who shared my battles and journey back to Wellness and Sight. ART saved my life, gave me inspiration and reason to live. I found refuge and healing by sharing art I could no longer see with those who could, curated a gallery called Beyond Vision with art by both sighted and blind artists--not specifying to visitors which art was which, urging them to close their eyes, touch, and experience the world of art Beyond Vision. Sat on Getty Center's Blind & Sight-Impaired Advisory Board to assist them to make their collection accessible to sight-impaired visitors. Became Storyteller and tour guide at Getty to keep experiencing Art thru eyes of others and in my own mind's eye. While blind, started creative company Zeeva Intl, opened and acted as Creative Director of Bashtet Movement Arts Studio--a Body-Mind urban retreat in LA's Arts District. Got off Disability while still blind and on O2. As blind board member of Downtown LA Neighborhood Council's Arts Aesthetics and Culture Committee, helped create Gallery Row--transforming an area of urban blight into a major Art destination in just a few years, revitalizing downtown LA. Though getting much better than anyone ever thought I could be--I was still blind, still dependent on supplemental O2 for hours each day. Went south of the border to get Medical Detox and holistic alternative treatments far better and more cost effective than what's available in USA. Got back my sight after 5+ years just in time to help late Mom thru her last years of life. In 2006, in response to tens of thousands of requests, shared HOW I got my sight back and got better via natural wellness e-zine-the Z'zine, now Zeeva's Wellness Weekly. Collated the questions and wrote Zeeva: the Art of Wellness the True Story of How Z Got Well Again and You Can Too! coming out hardcover later this year. Committed to the power of creativity, faith, desire and action to create change. Having attained several high-level degree's from the School of Hard Knocks I'm still here, still dancing, still creating, finally starting to make Art again, still practicing. As one of my masters, Martha Graham said: "Practice means to perform, over and over again in the face of all obstacles, some act of vision, of faith, of desire. Practice is a means of inviting the perfection desired."
