I believe in girls being empowered to use their inborn power to manage their lives positively. Kibera girls are faced with so many challenges, through the Girls Speak Out Forums we conduct in the community girls have been able to share what they like and dislike about their lives hence giving them hope for a better future. I am a changemaker because I believe in inborn Power for self control/guidance.
I feel more associated with women/girls all round welfare, through sports, education, right awareness, art and many other areas that makes the women feel useful with more concentration on the Slum SHE. I have been there for so many years and I believe if given a chance and empowered these women/girls can turn their lives around.
I want to see an empowered Slum SHE who is looking at life positively and managing her life on her own rather than sympathize with herself waiting for help. Everyone has a potential to manage her life if empowered to look at her future positively.
We have three different programmes that ensures the well being of the girlchild in our community namely; Girls Speak Out Forums/Clubs, Young Women Initiative and where are the boys. All the three programmes works towards creating a safer environment for girls starting with their inward peace. We have used sports, theater, radio listening circles and round table talks to debate on girls welfare issues.
