I prepare future and current teachers, and I coach youths. I hope to help each group reflect on how they are responsible for their own actions and how their actions impact others.
I grew up in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. It is a beautiful part of the world, with a temperate climate. Still, my fondness has always been more about people than places. I have a particular fondness for the compassionate, intelligent and dedicated people who serve others.
I want to find more ways to help people overcome barriers in their lives, en route to a more equitable world. I use sport to try to make a difference, in small but meaningful ways.
BEd. at U of Victoria, 1978; MPE UBC, 1984; PhD, The Ohio State University, 1988. Taught at Rutgers U, 1988-1994; U of South Carolina 1994 to present. Have joined Partners of the Americas (2011) seeking an established program working on significant world problems. I seek a belief that what I do and have done, makes a difference in this world--even if only one person at a time.
