I am well known and respected in the tourism industry in Nova Scotia and around Atlantic Canada. I thrive on project driven initiatives and like being engaged by the breadth and variety of people in business. I am strongly committed to practicing business ethically with a goal of giving back. I believe in the sustainability and value of rural communities and encourage everyone to consider a more gentle approach to our shared natural environment..
Nova Scotia and Atlantic Canada... the Ocean
Responsible Tourism development as a means to support our shared natural environment along with cultural exchange that supports peaceful and supportive co existence.
I have more then 20 years of accumulated skills related to small and medium sized business operations. These businesses ranged through, property management, a highly specialized courier service, and the car rental industry.
Most recently I was engaged for seven years at the Tourism Industry Association of Nova Scotia -TIANS. I provided IT support for the organization and was a team member of a pan Atlantic group TourismTechnology.com motivating the sector to develop web presence. Much of the effort was accomplished through the use of workshops, seminars & newsletters (print & electronic). I delivered or coordinated more then 100 such sessions/workshops to business operators around the province and throughout Atlantic Canada. It was during this time that I focused and specialized on the subjects of website development and search engine optimization. Additionally I was the sector liaison for the Nova Scotia Bed & Breakfast Association, The Campground Owners Association of Nova Scotia and the Nova Scotia Adventure Tourism Association. Working with each of these groups and regional tourism organizations enabled me to experience the character and potential of the province in a very meaningful way.
I thrive in simplifying Information Technology with the goal of making it accessible for people and business.
I enjoy collaborating with individuals, NGOs and government agencies. I have worked with groups as diverse as the Gulf of Maine Council regarding sustainable tourism development, the Canadian Bureau of International Education CBIE – Ukraine study tour, tourism development, the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States OECS, government delegation on sustainable tourism. The Unama’ki Institute of Natural Resources – Bras d’Or Lakes Collaborative Environmental Planning Initiative. Environment Canada – Camp Green Canada & Atlantic Green Boating.
