At Nuevo Mundo Expeditions, we promote ecotourism and fair trade through responsible tourism and cultural enhancement in all regions of Ecuador. We believe that "you love what you know and you protect what you love". We want to show our visitors that unique travel experiences are not only about adventure, but about learning.
I see myself as a citizen of the world. But I feel a close connection to the Amazon rainforest because it was a very important part of my childhood and it continues to be a place for learning. The incredible biodiversity and the plurality of cultures makes it a unique place.
I also feel a fondness for Iceland, that small volcanic island which housed me for four years. Iceland is special in many ways: its nature, culture, language and development. Like in Ecuador, the conflict between rapid economic growth and sustainable development characterizes the country, e.g. green energy or aluminum smelters?
Tourism has the potential to improve the living conditions of the host countries. I believe that tourism can help Ecuadorians reach a better standard of living by providing financial resources, cultural pride, self-confidence and autonomy. I want Ecuador to become self-sufficient and sustainable, with quality education, passion for innovation and change and social equality.
I have a BA degree in English linguistics and literature, and a master's in Environment and Resource Management from the University of Iceland.
I've worked in tourism all my life, traveling to discover my country and learning to love it for what it is. I've guided small groups of tourists in the countryside and the city. Now I'm working to become more sustainable as a company, to reduce our ecological footprint and increase our social outreach.
