I am Samundra Paudel from Nepal.
After completing my MBA, I felt some shortcomings of current educational system of Nepal and the need of some entrepreneurial activities for youth. It did not help youths to become job creators and entrepreneurs. Nepalese colleges are becoming factory to develop job seekers and only increasing educated unemployment. Youths are not able to get chance for converting their ideas into opportunities due to lack of practical knowledge and skills, mentorship and counseling, lack of vocational education. The root cause is the lack of youth entrepreneurial education and the huge gap on school to work transition. Then I started Alternatives with slogan “Finding New Possibilities for Youth” in 2006.
I am the Founder and President of Alternatives, a pioneer Nepalese youth led social enterprise initiated in 2006 and got officially registered with the District Administrative Office Kaski, Nepal in 2007. It has got its affiliation with the Social Welfare Council and NGO federation. Since its inception, Alternative has encouraged Nepalese youth to become social entrepreneurs and has contributed to the society by creating a generation of youth endeavors who are self dependent, productive and skilled. It works to create new possibilities and practices so that they can utilize their enthusiastic and pragmatic visions in their society.
I believe that youth as the change maker, will lead the constructive social development for building a prosperous and equitable society.
