I am working as Assistant Professor in Geology in Mekelle University, Ethiopia. I have made many changes in the students of Mekelle University and have taught them discipline and orgnaisational skills. Also outside the University I teach more than 70 students who are from different classes of grades in the Aynalem Comp Elementary school. I am conducting a supporting program for these school children to improve their overll health, education and power of self discipline and thus implementing a man-making education for the children. I spend money from my pocket to give supporting materials to the children and some of the graduate students are teaching them as volunteers on Saturday and Sunday to give them an additional strength to solve their homework assignements and also to support them to revise the subjects that have taken by the teachers in the last week. I have also great idea to design a helthy excercises for them to practise regularly and introduce them some kind of nutritious food for regular intake that will support their intellectual and physical health. I have also conducted two or three meetings for their mothers and addressed them to take care of their children lovingly and with more affection and more interest in their studies and personal rotines like, personal cleanliness, etc. They have agreed and some of them have reported that they daily check the bag of theis children and also help them to read and write at home to complete their homework, etc. This idea is similar to Mahathma Gandhi's Gobal village life implemented in South Africa.
Aynalem Comp Elementary school is the place where I visit every Saturday and Sunday even while working as Faculty member at Mekelle University, Ethiopia. I am very much interested to give a man-making education to the poor village children of Mekelle, Ethiopia. Also to the entire Ethiopia and Africa and Asia.
The students are having very weak body and health, especially some having skin diseases and eye-disorders or diseases and most of them are weak and mentally not so strong for discipline and long term study. Also they are not getting any support from their uneducated parents. So I have taken the help of graduate studetns from Mekelle University to educate these children on Saturday and Sunday two hours each. So this practice will help them to solve their school portions that have been covered in the oprevious week. And thus they get more confidence to go to school for the next week. This is an enormous confidence for the young children. between 1st to 9th Class or Grade. hence I am confident that Ethiopia will empowere with the help of these educated children. I teach them discipline, like, at what time daily they should daily get up, and to clean their teeth and go to toilet and also to take cold water bath daily and thus get personal cleaniness and then to start they day with a prayer if they can daily find time. And thus live spiritual way of disciplined life to imporve the personality to achieve better education and quality life for themselves and also for their fellow men. I have notice the intelligence in general in the Ethiopian children are very far behind that of Indian or European or Ammerica children. This can be imporved by some physical excercies and also by giving them nutrious food like, butter, milk, egg, etc. I have a plan to give these items to them regularly and we can montior how these changes improved in some 100 to 200 students in one school or village and this model when get success can be copied to anywhere. i have real Shraddha (love with affection and concentration) towards these children and I look forward some support.
