Profile
Nsazimihingo Ruzibiza John Bosco
When I returned to Rwanda after 1994 Genocide, I found a generation with no hope, communities where full of orphans and names of individuals had been replaced with Ethnic identities of Tutsi and Hutu. This challenged my thinking and I started thinking how to give hope to the hopeless. And it’s from this background that I founded UNITED AFRICAN YOUTH-UBUNTU FOUNDATION (UNAYOF) and hence the project
Preventing Child Violence through sports as one of the major projects that have effected lives of OVCs and Youth in post genocide Rwanda.
The post Genocide orphans especially Girls face a challenge of couping up trauma and inferiority complex that emanates from the cardinal male dominance in all walks of like. It’s from this background that we initiated a project entitled: Child violence Prevention through sport. Sports became the only possible tool of facilitating the value of Girl child participation. In sports a Girl child is able to learn values got from Team Work, sports with rewards and Punishment; sports in peace promotion, sports helps to transcend frontiers as mean of Unity and Reconciliation and sports as multidimensional
Like most popular sport in the world, sports and other multidimensional kinds of sports speak a universal language that can help bridge differences and promote the core values necessary for lasting peace. It is a tool so powerful to release tension and generate dialogue.
On the playing field, cultural and gender inferiority are dissolved since the need for the success and victory of the entire team transcends the individual sentiments and emotions.
People with interest in a particular sport Unite to support the team/club to which they identify not and on the basis of segregation or discriminative factor. But on the basis of solidarity rooted in the spirit of belonging and becoming of the ‘We’ness.
It helps to transcend the boarders of conflict for a collective common goal of honor, victory and interrogation of the members of the different teams
My fondness is a passion for young people. They hope for better future but few are ready to listen to them.
The change is to have a society that is empowered with skills to compete without causing damage of any kind bit psychological or physical but rather Healing and transformation of an individual that facilitates the creation of a holistic person that is whole.
