Exuberant Animal has developed a method of fitness based on play - interactive "games" that strengthen the body and communication between participants.
This innovative health philosophy is based on human biology: that all animals would rather play than work, and all animals need to be physically fit to their activities. Modern children are facing more demands on their time and attention span: Exuberant Animal seeks to get children and adults moving through functional exercise "games" that are so much fun, the participants barely realize they are working out. There are added benefits as well:
-functional "workouts" strengthen all parts of the body, allowing the full range of motion to be achieved and strengthened
-"games" played in community/social setting positive communication skills
-fun activities create joy to do the activities for longer times, or attend new sessions ("I want to do that again!")
-non-competition activities foster cooperation
The outdoors. My favorite locations have mountains, but I also have a history with water. I believe people are truly energized and inspired by being in the outdoors, which is also being noticed in the study of biophilia (love of living systems). There is a current science theory that people get nice when being outdoors. (referenced in : http://scienceblogs.com/cortex/2009/10/nature_and_compassion.php) My teachings also include outdoor interaction, play, even barefoot adventures.
We envision a world where children and adults want to be active in their bodies in a functional way, engaged in communication, and learn to work together in community. They are aware that they are inter-related with one another as well as with the earth, and they also realize that health comes from healthy whole foods, outdoor experiences, and laughter.
