I am passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of women and their families. I've been a nurse for 16 years and am determined to help others achieve their goals through healthy outcomes. I strive to address barriers and find innovative solutions in the local community that I work in. Additionally, I have strong ties to people of diverse cultures and poverty stricken countries and believe in social equity.
My mother and father met in the Vietnam war, so I have strong ties to SE Asia, as well as the people from third world countries. I had the wonderful opportunity for my Master's fieldwork to go over to spend time observing healthcare in Vietnam in a local clinic, local herbal medicine doctor and in an orphange.
Locally, the place I prefer to be when I'm not at work is at home with my wonderful husband and 4 children in Mukilteo, WA.
It brings me great joy to help others. I want to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable populations, whether it is on a small or grand scale.
I have been a Public Health Nurse for 9 years and a hospital nurse for 7 years. I obtained my BSN from University of Washington in 1994 and recently graduated in 2008 with my Master's in Nursing. I have always worked in the (high-risk) Maternal-Child field and have recently worked for the past 4 years with homeless, pregnant mothers with disabilities.
