As a Chinese/Taiwanese-American who loves to travel, I feel a connection to many different places: Taipei, Delaware, Budapest and Johannesburg to name a few. But never have I felt such generosity and kindness (especially from strangers) as I did the handful of times I visited Zimbabwe. Unforgettable.
I've had internships at a magazine in Dallas and a human rights organization in DC. After studying public and international affairs in college (with a focus on education policy), I joined the start-up team that launched African Leadership Academy, a pan-African secondary school that develops socially-minded leaders who are passionate about driving change on the African continent. Here, I designed the student recruitment and selection strategy and worked with a team of four to implement this strategy across the continent in the Academy's inaugural year. At Changemakers I have helped coordinate outreach efforts for the Gates competition, Cultivating Innovation: Solutions for Rural Communities; as well as the Hewlett competition, Champions of Quality Education in Africa.
