I create and promote the use of 'Garden Solutions'. These are pattern based process gardens designed to meet many of our basic needs. The 'seed of life' garden is the first garden of this kind and has led to many more. They can be viewed at www.seedoflifegarden.org.
Planet Earth
The population globally will respond to an increased standard of living by shrinking. People will respond to thriving (as opposed to surviving) by seeking deep happiness. I would like to see us create a world where the children can grow up seeking happiness instead of just trying to get by.
As a small town gardener much of my time is spent outside. I design gardens and grow lots of different kinds of plants both ornamental and for consumption. I am the consultant for the Nevada County Recycling Department's Full Circle Demonstration Garden that features the 'seed of life' garden as an outdoor classroom for our schools to duplicate, utilizes the kitchen waste from our local jail, and has inmates maintain the garden.
I graduated from Bucknell University in 1991 with a degree in History and a deep concern for this world. Since then I have taken many horticulture classes and workshops and have been very active in promoting community and school gardening locally.
Guest Speaker engagements have included the local Gather the Women annual event and the California Horticultural Therapy Association's annual gathering.
