Organized and developed a Zulu Quilting Guild 7 years ago. Trained over 50 men and women to make professional quilts and market them locally and abroad. Established the Mzansi Zulu Quilt Centre in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa where quilts are manufactured by quilters and sold. All proceeds are retained by the quilter.
German by birth, American by citizenship. BA and Masters, retailed antique furniture in California before moving to Africa 15 years ago. Five years a reservist in the South African Police Service, then a Rotarian where I started the quilting program seven years ago in the township of Sweetwaters. Opened the Mzani Zulu Quilt Centre on my farm, where the quilters manufacture their quilts. They are all in business for themselves, and we are located on a popular tourist route.
