Latin American and CAribbean Consortium to Support Cassava Research and Development-CLAYUCA | Researcher -Agricultural Development Practicioner | Cali 0 Colombia
I work in the development, adaltation and transfer of appropriate technologies that have the potential to help the agricultural sector of developing countries to move forward, through the creation of employment and income opportunities and the establishment of linkages between farmers and markets.
I feel a connection with the billionns of farming families, especially in African countries, that do not have any access to any form of energy ; those persons, especially women that have to walk several miles every day to get pieces of wood to be able to cook their own food
I would like to work on the development, adaptation and transfer of technologies for small-scale generation of energy, that can be implemented in small-scale farming systems; for example, through the production of hydrated ethanol (96% GL), from crops that are able to grow on marginal lands (cassava, sweet sorghum), and that can be used in local, domestic uses such as generation of electric energy through stationary engines and stoves for cooking.
I have been working during the last 30 years with an international organization that conducts research and development activities in agricultural crops, and has its area of influence in the Latin American and Caribbean region. My work has emphasized the cassava crop and the area of postharvest management, added-value technologies. Main objective of my work has been to help farmers to identify and to establish sustainable linkages with more profitable marketing channels for their products
