My Change Maker strategy started way back during my primary education level when I attended a rural school where most of the children were coming from peasant poor families. Life in a rural school was so measurable and I will never forget all about it. Due to the stated experience, I wanted much to have something done for the children in my community but I had no resources to fulfill my vision. That never scared me much so I used what I had and that was the knowledge I had acquired from school. I volunteered to teach poor children in my community who lacked teachers, room to study from, and scholastic materials among others. Classes were conducted mostly under tree shades and it was not really comfortable for the children as you can have a look at this link http://bix.yahoo.com/profile/rob_kib
I felt that what I had done was not enough so I thought of applying my computer skills to help to show the world how miserable children in my community were living in. In 2007, I participated in the bix competition and though I could not win the prize due to lack of appropriate technologies, some people like Pamela Smith and Jim Family appreciated my efforts and they went ahead to solicit for scholastic materials which I did distribute to all children in Kikandwa Primary school as you can have a look at this link www.krcdevorg.weebly.com
In 2007 I introduced beekeeping project in the village to help community people learn how to keep bees for economic development and raising up income to support their children in schools. Further more, I have compiled a proposal to establish a primary school which can offer free education to all children in well-structured environment. My vision is to have at least two children from each family in the village introduced to good education right from childhood which can be a good foundation for their future education progress. I believe that if two children from each family are given good education then they can help their respective families for future development thus terminating the poverty cycle.
Most of the time, I feel connected to rural community people with problems and always feel like extending a hand of help whenever I can. My contributions are mainly focused on rural communities because most of the poor people yet more productive live in villages. They are more productive because they mainly engage in Agriculture where everyone feeds from. They are very poor because no one cares to give the right price to their goods and services. So, they are poor not because they don’t work but they are just cheated. Now that land is becoming an issue in Uganda and Africa in general, rural community people are getting displace day and night unlawfully by the rich and this makes me feel very bad because the only valuable asset they have is land. So, engaging them in active policy or project designing, developing, monitoring, evaluation and advocacy and extending basic education in a number of important issues concerning their rights is very important.
Free education for all children in rural communities in well-structured environment. My target is to have at least two (2) children from every family in rural community introduced to good education with the aim of terminating the poverty cycle in poor rural community families.
