I generate ideas and see them through implementation in rural community settings by providing project management and marketing expertise
I am fond of and closely linked to my rural community in Central Kenya
I want to see my community undertake farming as a business for income generation, creation of employment and poverty reduction
I am a scientist with a veterinary background. I worked for many years in a Kenyan research institute. Since 1990 I have been investing in my rural area in Central Kenya. First I established a private school, then in 2001 I started milk collection and maketing. I assisted the community to establish a group and now it has more than 1500 dairy farmers. My company is collecting more than 4,000 litres of milk per day and selling it fresh in our local town. We assist the farmers access farm and dairy inputs, including cereals, veterinary and AI services. Recently I have establish a new company and assisted farmers to form a new fish farming group. Together, we now have more than 10 acres of fish farms. My company provides project management and marketing expertise to to the community, and gets a commission for fish sold, in a perfect public private partnership
