I am passionate about ecologically sustainable endogenous development and empowerment of communities. I am working to help the young generation to see the richness of their heritage.
My grand mother's peasant home in Mugova Village in the Serima Communal Lands of Gutu District, Masvingo Province, Zimbabwe in the 1960's and 70's. In particular I long to herd the cattle on the communal pastures, to tend to the vegetables in her garden and to harvest the diverse foods from her rainfed field
I would like to see everyone but particularly the young people benefiting from the skills to design more sustainable environments around themeselves
Born in 1959, I grew up with my peasant grandmother in rural Zimbabwe. On finishing high school I did a teacher training course specializing in Geography education. After teaching for 14 years I found a new passion and focus in Environmental Education using Permaculture as a tool for promoting sustainable environmental management. Since then I have been working with school and college communities, NGO’s and government agencies introducing Permaculture to learners, teachers, lecturers, education officers, small-scale farmers, extension workers, NGO staff and government officials. My new focus working with the Regional Schools and Colleges Permaculture (ReSCOPE) Programme since April 2007 is to support organizations that are interested in promoting sustainable environmental management in schools that they are working with.
