After my two years for my Diploma in Business Information Technology, I went back to my Village and I joined hand with the Community of Kasambya with one Volunteer from Peace Corps Organization. and we initiated a Computer Centre in this local area.
The Centre now Provides ICT services and internet to different Groups of people in this area. These include:
-Primary Pupils
-Secondary students
-School Drop out
-Teachers
-Health Workers
-Small. Bus. Org
-Farmers
-General Public
The Organization/ Project plan to give educational support through IT research skills training to 500 students from 5 local schools in 2009/2012 in order to improve their academic performance. This increased enrolment by students will further help to raise awareness in the community about the role that computers (ICT ) can play in education and the benefits that can be gained by students. The raised awareness and improved academic results of the students in 2009/ 2012 will help to solidify the role of Kasambya community Computer Centre (KCCC) in the community and ensure its future viability.
I would prefer a place where there is easy Communication like internet.
Improved results of the students will help to prove in tangible terms the benefit of computers in Kasambya. Classically students coming from schools in Kasambya perform poorly as compared to their counterparts in towns and cities. Improved performance in 2009 will demonstrate to parents that computer education is worth investing in and something from which their children can benefit.
• Opening and closing of the Centre
• Maintenance and supervision of the computers and other technical components of the centre.
• Participation in teaching formal classes and giving informal instructions to the computer users as needed
• Issuance of membership cards
• Fulfilling of IT contacts as dedicated by the manager (i.e. Graphic design projects, typing projects etc)
• Managing internet Service.(LAN)
• Teach classes as per weekly schedule as posted by the manager
• Repairing of Computers
• Provision of technical assistance to customers as needed
• Assumption of duties as delegated by manager, such as
o Collection of money.
I have a three years Experience in teaching Computers at Kasambya Community Computer Centre following the ICDL Curriculum, Managing a Local Area Network, Computer Maintenance, Web site Management and Net working Skills.
