While I don't feel that I have yet done anything on a grand scale as a changemaker, I hope that I am a catalyst for change every day. As sappy as this may sound, I do the random (and calculated) acts of kindness daily (as Mother Theresa said, "Be the love of God in your home, with you husband, your family, your neighbors")In doing so , we have opened our home to many over the years - exhange students, foster kids, travelers, college students. We have learned much. Our children can and do converse, travel, defend and work for others. I am proud of us as a family. When the opportunity arrises to do something on a grander scale, I am ready.
It may sound odd, but I love being at the airport! It is just full of humanity and life and which always makes the journey just as much fun as the destination. I like the hustle, people greeting each other who may not ordinarily do so, the shared experience, watching friends, family, and co workers greet and say good bye. It is simply full of life and drama. So cool!
I want to see those who have less than many of us in already 'developed' nations have ready access to education, medicine and freedom of movement. I want to see people empowered to make necessary change to better their own lives.
I taught infant and maternal health to propspective parents as a certified childbirth educator, as well as involvement in education/facilitator of parenting class and workshops. My current professional experience includes office management and Radio study coordination for a private firm in power and controls for the water and wastewater industry. I understand both local area and wide area networks and system technology, held elective office, negotiated contracts, group facilitation, comfortable in both public and faith based venues.
