In 2002, while in high school, I co-founded a mental health group that strives to educate everyone about the resources available to them. I have also been involved in numerous organizations, advisory committees, and grant committees.
I am truly connected to both my local community (the Hartford, CT area) as well as the nation as a whole.
I want to see the day when everyone who struggles with a mental health concern feels 100% comfortable about seeking the necessary help, sharing their experiences, and never being afraid about the stigma that surrounds mental health.
Jeremy has been working as a mental health advocate since 2002, beginning his early work in high school as a co-founder of Caring, Outreach, and Prevention for Everyone (COPE), a program dedicated to educating his community about the warning signs of suicide and depression and the resources that are available to students, parents, faculty, staff and administrators. He also served on his town's Substance Abuse Prevention Commission and Suicide Prevention Grant Committee as the sole student liaison to both organizations.
Once in college, Jeremy was the Founding President of Active Minds at UConn - an international organization dedicated to de-stigmatizing mental health on college campuses. From there, he was elected to serve on the Active Minds' Student Advisory Committee and elected President. Jeremy currently serves on the Connecticut Youth Suicide Advisory Board and works part-time as an Emergency Medical Technician in the City of Hartford as well.
