Rubina Khan is currently a Master's student at New York University's Wagner School of Public Service. She has worked in health care for 8 years in New York City, specializing in emergency medicine as a physician assistant, in settings that reflect a multi-cultural patient base. She plans to combine her health care expertise with her education to address disparities in the developing world. She is particularly interested in preventive strategies, including nutrition.
Growing up in Pakistan and becoming a US citizen have highlighted the issues of health and economic disparities in both developing and industrialized countries.
I have provided patient care in the emergency department in a community hospital in New York. This hospital provides care for the underserved, and the population is linguistically and culturally diverse.
I just completed field work for a project on nutrition in India, along with other colleagues from NYU.
