Read Jonathan Kozol's book "Savage Inequalities" when I was in high school in preparation for leading a workshop on problems in the New York City public school system. Ever since then, I've always had the social consequence of whatever I was doing at the forefront of my mind.
This is hard: Detroit, Southern India, New York, Zimbabwe, Morocco, Brazil, Cuba, Madagascar, Thailand, Indonesia, New Orleans, Bay Area, New Mexico, Atlanta (is growing on me)... goes on and on. I like a lot of places.
An opportunity to live an enriching life for whomever wants one.
I am a social entrepreneur with over a decade of experience working in human rights, non-profit advocacy and web media. I am a strategist, network-builder, writer, and leader of media and public policy campaigns. I started experimenting with web design as an undergraduate student at Pomona College in Claremont, CA. I went on to generate media and content for organizations such as Human Rights Watch, the Open Society Institute, and Drug Policy Alliance (DPA). I was also Associate Director of Public Policy and Community Outreach at DPA. I co-founded the non-profit human rights group, the National Economic and Social Rights Initiative (NESRI) in 2004. I have an MBA from Emory University, and I most recently helped to start up a company that programs interactive websites for community-building.
