I am a changemaker because I don't accept the "status quo". When deciding to broadcast a reality radio show with true stories of substance abuse and recovery, many told me it couldn't be done because of the anonymity factor of those in recovery. The naysayers said I wouldn't be able to get speakers. Well, I said "let's change that", and now speakers are more than happy to come on our radio show and share their experience, strength and hope with our listeners.
I feel a fondness and connection when I am helping others. I am passionate about change and knowing that all of us can "transform". We just have to believe we can, and learn from those who have "been there".
The change I would passionately want to happen is for all of us to have "peace of mind". When we're at peace with ourselves, we can handle any situation. Life is never going to be smooth most of the time, but if we're at peace, we can pretty much handle whatever life throws our way.
I spent a large part of my career (17 years) as Operations Manager at WABC Radio in New York. It was an exciting place to work. We had guests from all walks of life, and listeners calling in expressing their opinions. We had a free and open exchange of ideas, and I learned that there isn't just one way of looking at anything in life.
