I implemented a program titled "Crossing Borders", where I use the still image as a tool for community and individual voice through workshops and exhibitions.
I have a few places where I feel connections: Palestine/Israel and America.
I want citizens to realize that they are 1) not alone in their concerns 2) Can make changes in their communities and lives 3) Generate knowledge of one to the other, crossing cultural boundaries and humanizing the other to lead towards peaceful resolutions in conflict.
I was a photojournalist in the Middle East for 7 years, followed by obtaining a masters in conflict analysis that focused on using the media (photography, exhibitions and the internet) to cross cultural boundaries to increase knowledge of the "other" in conflict.
A workshop was designed to generate both individual and community reflection, to lead towards change and communication. This was done with refugee women in the West Bank, followed with a book, a blog, and an exhibition in Italy.
