Beth Konopka is currently Chief Operations Officer and acting Executive Director for ASTEP. Beth began her professional arts training at the National Ballet School, after which she graduated with a BFA from Juilliard. Although she pursued a fine arts career, her résumé also reflects a vast amount of experience teaching dance to children in the private and public sector. When her career finally pushed her into major dance companies that did not share her philanthropic interests, she decided to take a different path: to work for ASTEP in a full-time capacity and help make her dreams become a reality. With many successes of ASTEP following her transition, Beth has been invited to serve on several public panel discussions to speak about artists who transition and/or make careers into philanthropic work. In 2008 she spoke at Stella Adler’s panel discussion entitled Movement: A Universal Language and was most recently featured in Dance Magazines’ Lifetime Learners for her work with ASTEP. In the fall she will be speaking on a panel at Juilliard to the same effect.
