Christina Ballantyne is the principal at San Miguel Elementary School. She has over a decade of educational experience, which includes being a classroom teacher, a new teacher mentor in partnership with New Teacher Center, an English Language Development coordinator, a literacy coach, a coach of instructional coaches, and a middle school assistant principal. She believes strongly that public education is a way to bridge the opportunity gap that exists in our country today.
In 2014, her school became an Ashoka Changemaker School. San Miguel is focused on creating a climate of change for students, where underrepresented groups are empowered, cycles of poverty are broken, and everyone believes they have the power to positively affect change in their own lives and in the community. San Miguel is also in the process of launching a Spanish/English Dual Immersion program, opening in 2015-2016.
Christina completed her undergraduate and graduate work at Santa Clara University. She lives in Sunnvyale, CA with her husband and 2 little girls.
