Dacher Keltner is the founding director of University of California-Berkeley’s Greater Good Science Center. Focused on the social psychology of compassion and cooperation, the Center produces a magazine, website, and speaker series designed to translate key theories, insights, and practices for a broad audience of educators, policy makers, health care providers, and interested citizens. He has written for the Utne Reader and the New York Times Magazine, and is the author of Born To Be Good: The Science of A Meaningful Life. Other books include: Social Psychology, with Tom Gilovich and Richard Nisbett; Understanding Emotions (2nd edition), with Keith Oatley and Jennifer Jenkins; and The Compassionate Instinct, with Jason Marsh and Jeremy Smith.
