I am a teacher, master gardener, and permaculture designer living and working in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Since the Spring of 2010, I have been working to start a permaculture program at Jasper Place High School. With involvement, I helped create a food forest the school's large central courtyard. Compost of more that 80 species of edible perennial plants, the food forest garden builds biodiversity, increases soil depth and health, and sequesters carbon all while providing the school with a food source and teaching tool.
In the Spring of 2011, I paired up with a local Aboriginal Elder, Isabelle Kootany from the Alexis Stoney Nation to teach a course that we have come to call 'Indigenous Permaculture'. The Aboriginal Studies curriculum at hear, 'Indigenous Permaculture' was bought through the philosophies and hands-on application of permaculture design.
