I was born in Venezuela, raised in Florida, USA and I am now living in Elche, Spain. By the end of 2008, when the economic crisis started to be noticed in Spain, I found myself unemployed but did not give up. That situation motivated me to become more proactive and focuse on working to make a better society.
In May 2009, I founded “The Immigrant´s Guide”, a social communication media which set the beginning of what today is known as TEGI – Social Communication Medias, wich includes a printed magazine, a web page (www.tegimedios.com) and an online radio station (www.tateijuradio.es).
As of today, I have received three awards recognizing the work I am doing as a social entrepreneur:
2009 – National Award by the European University of Madrid: “II Entrega de Jóvenes Emprendedores Sociales”
2010 – International Award by the Starbucks ™ Foundation in cooperation with the International Youth Foundation, Shared Planet™ Program
2011 – International Award by the International Youth Foundation: “2011 Youth Action Net Global Fellow”
Since 2010 I have been attending on a regular basis to formation weeks and Social Entrepreneurs get togethers hosted by the European University of Madrid. In October 2011, I travelled to Mexico D.F. where apart from receiving the last award I participated in a formation week about leadership and received a letter of the ex president of the United States Bill Clinton, Honorary Chancellor of “Laureate International Universities (LIU)” , where he recognizes the innovative work of Social Entreprenurs.
