John McKinley has years of technology and media experience. He currently runs LaunchBox Digital, an early-stage investment firm located in Washington, D.C., that organizes LaunchBox08, a summer accelerator program that helps entrepreneurs get the capital, advice, and practical guidance to succeed.
Before this, John was a renowned techie. He was named Chief Technology Officer of the Year in 2003. He was CTO and founder and President of Digital Services for AOL where he developed and launched numerous award-winning wireless and online services businesses. As CTO, he was responsible for all engineering and operations and served as AOL's chief technology strategist. He also worked as a senior tech executive at AOL’s Digital Services, Merrill Lynch and GE Capital. That’s not all. He also advises or is a board member of Powerset, Xoopit, Foundation Capital, ObectVideo and Nuconomy.
Back in the day, John began his career with Ernst & Young, where he was named partner in 1992. He is a graduate of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
